Founded in 1997, Border Collie Rescue (BCR) is a registered non-profit organisation dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of Border Collies across South Africa. With the support of our volunteers, foster families and generous supporters, we help abandoned, neglected and surrendered Border Collies find safe, permanent homes.
We understand the unique needs of this intelligent, energetic and highly active breed. Border Collies require regular exercise, mental stimulation and owners who appreciate their natural instincts and temperament. Our adoption process focuses on finding suitable families who can provide the care, attention and environment each dog needs to thrive.
Our experience has taught us that successful rehoming starts with understanding the individual dog. Each Border Collie has its own personality, history and requirements, which deserve careful consideration. We encourage prospective adopters to look beyond appearance and consider the time, patience and commitment needed to provide a suitable home, particularly for dogs who may require additional training, reassurance or rehabilitation.
We also assist owners who can no longer care for their Border Collies and provide rehabilitation, veterinary care and temporary accommodation where needed. Our aim is to give every dog in our care the opportunity to recover, build confidence and prepare for life with a new family. We recognise that some dogs need additional time and support before they are ready for adoption, and we believe their individual wellbeing should always guide the process.
Our work depends on the generosity of our community, and there are many ways to get involved. From adoption and volunteering to financial donations, kennel sponsorships and fundraising initiatives, your support helps us continue our mission to improve the lives of Border Collies in need. Every contribution helps us provide the care, resources and opportunities these remarkable dogs deserve.
